May 2021 with Precious Pics | Annual Wedding & Engagement Report | Photography & Videography — wedding photography by Precious Pics

May is where the wedding calendar stops being spring and starts being wedding season. April hands it off; June takes it. But May is the biggest stretch of our year — we had to split the 2021 report into two parts because it would run too long as one piece.

This is Part 1: May 1 through May 28. Seventeen couples, twelve weddings, five engagement sessions, nine states.

1. Kaitlin & Craig — Purcellville, VA

Deluxe Photography with two photographers at Tranquility Farm. Classic with photojournalistic and art-key accents. Warm and natural edit. A true May 1 kickoff — Virginia farmland, late-spring greenery, the first big Saturday of the season.

2. Megan & Brandon — Anoka, MN

Classic Photography Package at Green Haven Golf Course. Classic with photojournalistic accents. Light and airy with high contrast. Minnesota on May 1 is still technically spring-spring — we had to plan around a cold morning and a warm afternoon, which meant building in a bridal-party break for layering changes.

3. Ann & Bryce — Berryville, VA

A Photography & Videography Collection at Historic Rosemont Manor — one of the Virginia-hunt-country estate venues that works for 150-guest weddings without feeling like a banquet hall. Classic with photojournalistic and art-key. Bright and airy.

4. Julianne & Brandon — Renton, WA

Sacred Heart Church ceremony, Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi reception. Collection Package. Photojournalistic with art-key. Warm and natural. Church-to-steakhouse is a common Seattle pairing — tight timeline, sharp transportation planning, and a reception venue that photographs beautifully at night.

5. Joleisha & Troy — Washington, DC (engagement)

The engagement session for the Celebrations at the Bay wedding we wrote up separately. Hains Point, The Wharf, Potomac Parkway. Classic styling, natural edit with mid-contrast. Washington DC engagement sessions move through the city by car; we shot three locations in a single afternoon.

6. Christa & Danny — Palm Beach, FL

Value Collection at Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa. Romantic and candid. Light and airy. Palm Beach in mid-May is still in the safe humidity window — full summer heat doesn't hit until mid-June.

7. Morgan & Dane — Savannah, GA

Photography & Videography at The Mackey House — a Savannah estate venue with the moss-draped oaks that every Georgia wedding shot list asks for. Classic photography. Light and airy.

8. Daniella & Mosi — Clarksburg, MD

Value Collection at Milton Ridge. Classic and photojournalistic. Bright with mid-contrast. Milton Ridge is one of the go-to DMV farm venues — a restored chapel on the same property as the reception barn, which cuts out the transfer issue that plagues two-venue days.

9. Morgan & Dane — Washington, DC

Second Morgan & Dane wedding of the month — different couple, same name. Classic Photography at Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Two photographers, one videographer. Classic and photojournalistic. Warm with high contrast.

10. Arthur & Michelle — Waterford, VA

Classic Photography at 8 Chains North, a Loudoun County winery. Classic with art-key. Natural and airy.

11. Amber & Daniel — Lutherville-Timonium, MD

Value Collection at Cloisters Castle — a 1930s mock-castle venue in Baltimore County. Photojournalistic. Warm and natural.

12. Katherine & Rene — Palm Bay, FL (engagement)

Palm Bay engagement session. Romantic, bright with high contrast.

13. Skyann & Sean — Virginia Beach, VA (engagement)

Great Falls Park engagement. Cinematic style, bright with mid-contrast.

14. Safira & Nikita — Seattle, WA (engagement)

Two-location engagement — Pike Place Market and Kerry Park. The Seattle classic pairing: tourist-heavy at noon, mostly ours by 6pm. Classic styling, warm and natural.

15. Randee & Koda — Forks, WA

Classic Package at Fern Acres in Forks — the Olympic Peninsula side of Washington state, old-growth forest backdrop, easily the most photogenic venue we worked in all month. Classic with photojournalistic. Vivid with high contrast.

16. Pauli & Sean — Austin, TX

Home wedding with full Photography & Videography Collection coverage. Classic with photojournalistic and art-key. Light and airy. Austin home weddings in late May mean you plan around heat — 6pm ceremony, sunset reception.

17. Dominique & Aaron — Norfolk, VA

Value Collection at The Hermitage Museum & Gardens. Classic with photojournalistic. Warm, airy, and natural. The Hermitage grounds give you a waterfront reception site and formal gardens within the same property — two location looks without a transfer.

18. Torrie & LeDaniel — Bremerton, WA

Home wedding with Value Collection. Candid photojournalistic, natural edit. A Puget Sound home wedding tight to the water — classic PNW setup.

19. Jerika & Shawn — Tacoma, WA (engagement)

Owens Park / Point Defiance engagement session. Romantic, vivid with high contrast.

That was May 1–28.

Nine states, nineteen couples in four weeks. And we still had the last weekend of the month ahead of us — a weekend big enough it needed its own Part 2.

Continue to May 2021 Part 2 →.
