Colorado light is dramatic: high elevation means intense midday sun and clear dry air. Summer ceremonies at altitude (9,000-12,000 feet) can run cool even in July; golden hour at elevation holds rich color longer than sea level. Denver rooftops catch city skyline with the Rockies as backdrop. Boulder foothills bring trees and Flatiron drama. Aspen and Vail sit in valleys with mountain walls that shape light and wind.
The challenge is weather: afternoon thunderstorms roll in from the west May through September, sometimes with little warning. We check forecasts and build buffer into portrait schedules. Mountain venues often have multiple ceremony/reception options so weather swaps are built in. Altitude logistics matter: getting ready at lower elevations and ceremonies at 10,000+ feet means allowing extra drive time. We know the passes and the timing.
