COURTNEY & NICK: Love Next Door | Precious Interview — wedding photography by Precious Pics

Courtney and Nick met on the doorstep of their apartment complex after Nick's best friend — who ended up as best man — insisted she give Nick her number. Three years later, they moved into the building next door. The proposal happened three hours up a mountain in St. Lucia; Courtney is a type 1 diabetic and made it to the top on adrenaline. We filmed their rustic-modern wedding at The Tannery Barn, all burgundy and blush.

How they met

Courtney: We met on the doorstep of the apartment complex we lived in. His best friend — and best man at our wedding — insisted I give Nick my number. Three years later we moved into the next building over in an apartment together.

Nick is the most hardworking and strongest man I have ever met. He has given me so much to be thankful for, and I am so happy to spend the rest of my life with him.

Courtney

Courtney has never wavered once in her commitment to our relationship. She is my rock on a bad day of work and my partner in crime on an adventure around the world.

The sparkle moment

It was when they started traveling. Dreams that used to be their own became something they built together.

The proposal

Courtney: We were in St. Lucia thinking about what excursions we wanted to do. Nick suggested we hike Gros Piton — about 3 hours to the peak. You need a guide and it was more expensive than we wanted to pay. I told him it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment and we should do it if it was on his bucket list.

That morning we packed a bag with snacks (I'm a type 1 diabetic), water, and sunscreen. I ate about 80 grams of carbs and didn't think I'd make it to the top with my blood sugar dropping. We passed groups coming down — none of them had made it. Three hours in, we did.

At the top of Gros Piton, Nick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

The day

Courtney: We love modern-farmhouse/rustic style with a touch of classic. As soon as I saw The Tannery Barn, I knew it was our venue. I'd seen the burgundy and blush palette and just fell in love.

The dress was an easy one too. I cried as soon as they put it on me. They told me to try more after I found the one, and I was stiff and disappointed until they put me back in the dress I'd already loved. Three choices (dress, venue, palette) were the easiest parts of planning.

The moment Courtney would relive

Courtney: Seeing all of our loving family and friends that joined us. Many of our family is spread out — some a 6- or 12-hour drive away. Having everyone in one place specifically for us was magical.

Dear Courtney & Nick

Thank you for letting us stand on the mountain with you after the climb — literally, metaphorically, on the dance floor. Fairytales are real.

Sincerely yours, Precious Pics
